What is CBD?

The answer to our anxiety prayers… just kidding (kind of)!
An acronym for cannabidiol, CBD is a naturally occurring compound in the hemp plant. It can help improve our mood, memory, coordination, and pain management. Our CBD is derived from hemp, which is why we refer to it as “hemp extract.”

What are the types of CBD?

Isolate

Only CBD. No other cannabinoids.

Broad Spectrum

CBD + all other cannabinoids minus THC.

Full Spectrum

CBD + all other cannabinoids in hemp.

How does CBD work?

CBD works with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is the body’s way of processing cannabinoids. It controls the way you respond to THC, CBD, and even non-cannabis ingredients like black pepper and cacao. Even if you’ve never used cannabis, this is an active system in your body that promotes homeostasis (ie: the perfect balance).

So what are the benefits?

Since the ECS aims to maintain balance, CBD is able to help influence a few things such as:

Will CBD make me high?

Nope! CBD is completely non-intoxicating, instead creating a relaxed but unaltered state of mind. It’s THC that creates the euphoric “high” for which cannabis is known.

Will I fail a drug test?

It’s not likely. There is a very slim chance, but is technically possible. To ensure that CBD and hemp users have the lowest possible chance of a positive drug test, the industry mandates that all such products have THC levels of 0.3% or less (which is why we always state that on our packaging!) At Upness, our standard per product is 0.1% or less to reduce that chance even further.

Are there side-effects?

In most cases, CBD is well tolerated and without any side-effects. However, if you take prescription medication, have underlying health conditions, or are generally sensitive to new ingredients, be sure to check with your doctor before trying.
