CBD works with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to help find homeostasis. This is why it can help your body relax when you are anxious and it can help improve your mood/energy when you are exhausted.

Everyone has a cell-signaling system known as the ECS. Some researchers think that hemp extracts in particular interact with a core component of the ECS — endocannabinoid receptors in the brain and immune system. Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells. They receive signals, mostly chemical ones, from different stimuli and help cells respond in various ways.

Boost Mood

Research shows that CBD interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain. Which, as you guessed, helps regulate mood levels. [2,5]

A 2018 study suggested that cannabidiol does not increase serotonin levels; rather, it appears to work by influencing how the brain responds to serotonin that is already there. [2]

Adding CBD into your routine, could have a positive effect on your mood.

Ease Inflammation & Soreness

The response from receiving signals in your ECS may help ease the daily struggle of inflammation and soreness. This means that CBD extract oil and other hemp-based products could potentially benefit people struggling with daily soreness. [1]

Researchers found that subjects were not likely to build up a tolerance to the effects of CBD, so they would not need to increase their dose continually. They noted that it would offer helpful new treatments for people with daily soreness. [3]

The American Journal of Psychiatry published studies showing the efficiency of CBD at relieving muscle aches. CBD does not make one high because it doesn’t have psychotropic properties. [4]

You may experience relief from daily soreness such as back pain & headaches.

Improve Sleep

Reducing or managing anxiety and pain can positively impact a restful night's sleep. Research indicates that CBD may interact with specific receptors, potentially affecting the sleep and wake cycle called the circadian rhythms.

Although research shows that CBD increases daytime wakefulness and alertness, it also may help regulate the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.[6]

This could mean that using CBD may promote improved performance during daytime hours, and as a result, also help improve nighttime sleep. [7]

Without the correct sleep cycles, you may have increased issues with dark circles under the eyes, hunger pangs, feeling unfocused, and susceptibility to colds.
